Since the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT at the end of last year, the demand for chips supporting generative artificial intelligence has grown rapidly, although this field still accounts for only a small portion of the total chip demand.

Cloud computing giants Microsoft, Google, and Amazon are all competing to develop generative artificial intelligence tools and services, thereby driving the demand for necessary components. Nvidia sharply raised its revenue forecast in its latest quarterly financial report released in May, which led to its share price rising all the way, with its market value exceeding $1 trillion.

Chip device manufacturers such as KLA Corp and Lam Research were also early winners of the artificial intelligence boom. Both companies announced quarterly revenue expectations this week that were higher than Wall Street's expectations, driving their stock prices higher.

Tim Archer, CEO of Lam, said on a conference call: "Compared to traditional servers, advanced artificial intelligence servers have more advanced logic, memory, and storage content. Every 1% increase in penetration rate of artificial intelligence servers and data centers is expected to drive additional chip equipment investments of $1 billion to $1.5 billion."
